How I Improved My Health This Year | Lifestyle

We don’t have very much if we haven’t got our health. That’s why I decided it was time to improve mine! So, here’s how I did it.

Stopped Smoking
We all know important it is to quit smoking. We’re bombarded with messages about the disastrous dangers of smoking on our health. And I suppose those messages have finally got through to me now! It’s hard to ignore them, so you’re forced to take them seriously. That’s why I finally gave up smoking this year.

It wasn’t easy, but I got there eventually. Once you get past a certain point, it becomes pretty easy. I did use a little something to make the process easier though, so I can’t take all the credit. I used an electronic cigarette and e liquid to stop my urge to pick up a cigarette and break my commitment.

Tried to Cut Out Stress
Stress is something that can do a lot of damage to our bodies, even if we don’t realise it. That’s why I’ve tried to limit the amount of stress I experience on a day to day basis. When you’re a young person with a child, it’s not surprising that you suffer a lot of stress. But, as I found out, it is possible to change habits.

Firstly, it’s vital to plan out the balance between your work and home life. This is what I did. And it worked really well. When you know what you have coming your way and you’ve planned things out carefully, you can really make sure that those stressful situations don’t arise so often.

Ate Better
I’ll admit it. I was one of those people who relied far too heavily on junk food rather than taking the healthy option. When you’re busy and unable to make time to create a meal that’s healthy and nutritious, it’s easy to give in to the simplicity and temptation of junk food. Luckily, I made time to think carefully about what I was eating.

It’s really not so difficult as long as you can dedicate the time to cooking and preparing healthy food. It’s about clearing a space in your schedule that will allow you to prepare food. I made sure that I was getting rid of salty foods and replacing those kinds of foods with organic vegetables and lean meat instead.

Started Swimming
As all busy people now know, it’s difficult to make time for exercise. And, let’s face it, exercise is not always very appealing when you’re tired and worn out. I tried lots of types of exercise but all of them led to me giving up and going back to my own habits. I finally realised that the key was to find a form of exercise that I enjoyed.

The type of exercise that I found was right for me was swimming. It’s really enjoyable and I feel completely comfortable with. And that’s not something I felt with any of the other kinds of exercise I tried out. Nowadays, I go swimming a couple of time each week, and I love it!
