Yankee Candles, worth the hype?

I hardly ever buy candles based on their hype as I find them extremely expensive. Take for example the Neom ones, who wants to spend £40+ on a candle in a jar? Although I am a very influenced blogger, and I will normally jump on the hype if enough people buy something, I definitely wouldn't be persuaded to buy one of those. I felt the same about Yankee Candles too, even at above £10 I still found that extremely expensive and wouldn't pay that.

Until I bought some 99p tarts on eBay. Then my life changed.
I fell in love with Yankee Candles.
My two favourite scents have to be Christmas Cookie and Salted Caramel.

I actually have one of the Salted Caramel tarts in my knicker drawer, it's such an old fashioned thing to do isn't it? Stick nice smelling soaps and scented pomanders in a knicker drawer!

The two shown above are small jar sizes, and normally retail for around £6.50, which I must admit I still find to be really expensive for a candle.

Why buy one of these when you can pick up a few cheaper versions in the stores?
Well for a start, they don't burn half as long as Yankee Candles do, and the fragrance isn't half as potent as these. I can honestly say I have never smelt a wax as strong as these.

Currently one of my local department stores has 20% off all the Christmas fragrances, I felt in heaven when I popped in the other day. Unfortunately I couldn't narrow it down to one so I thought I would leave it until I've burnt these two out, which is actually taking quite a long time! I do also have a Sugared Apple wax tart on the go too!

I'm really happy that this is one hype I gave a go!

Say a big hello to my March massimo advertiser,

  1. There's a brand of candles sold in TK Maxx called 'For Every Body' and they really remind me of Yankee Candles! Except you can get a massive one for like £6 ;) xx

  2. I was exactly the same as you! I love candles but couldn't bring myself to justify buying a yankee one. A couple of times I went to peoples houses and could really smell their candles and realised they were yankee ones which made me decide to buy some sample ones to put in my teal ight holders and was hooked! The bigger versions do last longer and smell until they run out so are wortht eh money.

My faves right now are zesty cranberry and melon....yum!

  4. I agree with the price, but then you forget how long they burn for.
I had one burning all night, and forgot to blow it out (I know dangerous :S) and there's still loads of candle left :D. Oh and the smell is yummy!
