Why my best friend is a diamond...

77 Diamonds are celebrating all of the diamond best friends out there this Valentine's Day and have asked me to create a blog post about what makes my best friend so special. They are currently running a competition to win £1,000, which I can spend on both of us if I win. Fingers crossed

Kelly, a fellow blogger for Adventures in Tea and Cake, is my diamond best friend.
And why is she my best friend? She's funny, witty, stylish, and knows me oh so well.

We met through the powers of blogging through a Twitter chat one Sunday evening, and have been friends ever since. As Kelly shares my passion for afternoon tea and cakes, we often venture off to new tearooms to have a sneaky afternoon tea! Not only does she share my passion for tea and cake, we also have exactly the same fashion sense and often by the same clothes and accessories, so much so that we need to consult each other on our outfit choices so we don't end up wearing the same things!

Does this sound familiar to you? I'm sure you and your best friend are the same.
So what makes Kelly my diamond best friend? And our friendship so different?
She's Kelly

As most of you know, I had a pretty rubbish pregnancy, and Kelly was there from day one. As a mum herself, she was there to offer me advice and support all the way through. Giving me all the gory details throughout to make sure I was completely prepared for childbirth. Even though we have often laughed, over tea and cake may I add, over silly child birthing stories, and stories of what babies get up to, nothing could have prepared me for Dexter's childbirth.

You can see my birth story here, it's pretty gory and some of the photos are graphic.

Throughout the whole ordeal of me being in hospital with severe pre-eclampsia and almost dying during childbirth, Kelly was there to support me all the way. With her witty and comical texts, she managed to cheer me all the way up to me being taken down to theatre for my emergency caesarean. My husband was still out of the country as we were unprepared for this scenario, so I was pretty down about everything, but Kelly was always there, constantly reassuring me and telling me it wouldn't be long until baby Dexter was here, and how much she couldn't wait to see him! Without her support and constant reassurance, I don't know how I would have made it through that ordeal as well as I did.

As if that wasn't enough, I started having panic attacks and a lot of anxiety during my pregnancy. Most of the time I was feeling pretty down, and wouldn't even go out of the house, but Kelly always came to my rescue, encouraging me to go out and take things one step at a time. For an anxiety sufferer, someone just asking 'how are you today?' can mean the world and perk you up!

We've bonded so well even though we have only been friends a short time, but I can honestly say we are the best of friends. We can share everything with each other, and trust me we do.

There isn't a day goes by where we don't have a chit chat about the most menial things, which always perks me up and makes me feel a million times better. Or she persuades me to buy something which I don't need but really want!

She is a tower of strength for me, and someone I know I can rely on at any time of any day, no matter what, she will always be there.
And I couldn't appreciate having her in my life more.

And that my everyone, is why she is my diamond best friend
And the perfect aunty to baby Dexter.
