Barry M Gelly Nail Varnish Review

I've  heard some great things about the new Barry M 'Gelly' nail varnishes, how high shine they are in order to recreate a gel manicure at a fraction of the cost and their lasting power: apparently two weeks without chipping. For £3.99 I thought I would give it a go, I'm actually glad I paid with my Boots points because I am so disappointed with this product!

The colour I bought, Lychee, is an absolutely stunning shade of nude and I couldn't have been happier. It is recommended you only use one coat but actually I needed two. No bother as I normally apply two anyway.

As I spend the majority of my life clicking away at the keyboard (occupation unfortunately) I thought I would be amazed at their lasting power as normal nail varnish chips off within a matter of hours with me. Well, it lasted a whole two days. I suppose it's better than nothing but nothing like the two weeks I was hoping it would.

It's safe to say I won't be purchasing these again in a hurry, I know they are only £1 more than most nail varnishes but considering a large proportion are available on the market at £1 alone, I think I will rather stick to them in the future. I'm really quite put off buying expensive nail varnishes as they have no lasting power whatsoever, I would love to be wowed by something that can last me more than a day! Does anyone have any recommendations out there for me?

  1. I'm sorry this wound up being so crappy. :( I still recommend Essie and OPI polishes despite the pricetag they are much better quality and as a fellow keyboard clicker I am always on the hunt for long-wearing polishes.

I know you text me asking if I had any nudes but I don't currently the best shade I have is Essie Fiji which is an incredibly pale pink (almost white) I also have Splash of grenadine and another which I forget.

  3. I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and was so disappointed! Unremarkable to say the least! :)

  4. I'm glad I read your review, as I was about to pick up some of these! And, like you said, might as well pay less for something similar! xx

  5. Mine chipped off quite easily as well! Do love this colour though!

  6. I LOVE colour... shame it doesn't last long. Although I do tend to change my polish every three days so It might not be such a pain for me... Is the colour worth it... Hmm I might have to pop into boots/superdrug to have a better look :)

  7. The colour is amazing <3
Unfortunately it just doesn't last xo

  8. Aww noo! I'm sad this didnt work for you :( I got this colour and the red. I can get 3 days from the nude and I got a whole week from the red. I absolutely love them! The gel like texture stops me chewing at them as well (very bad habit!)
